Bay Area/ East Oakland’s own Adrian Marcel is solidifying himself as an R&B chameleon whose smooth & sultry sonics pair seamlessly with his boldness and emotional bravery. With an across-the-board artistic upbringing and versatile Bay Area cultivation, Marcel’s organically resonant work provides palatability & relatability, allowing fans to feel seen & heard regardless of where they’re from or who they are. His work largely pertains to the importance and power of passionate love.

His first album, 2017’s #GMFU – Got Me F%^&ed Up, finds him tapping in with Saadiq, singer-songwriter James Fauntelroy, & producer No I.D. He took his creativity & career into his own hands with his sophomore album, 2019’s 98th. The first project released under his own independent label Third Voice Music Group. Adrian has also taken up acting and starred in the TV One bio pic, “The Bobby Debarge Story.”

Marcel’s new forthcoming music shows a new side to the artist, whose personal & professional self-awareness further expanded as a result of the pandemic. Marcel is confident, free, and raw. For his latest offering, the “unapologetically Oakland” artist Marcel teamed up w/ singer/songwriters Sonny B. Of CRSB to reintroduce himself starting w/ their first offering of (what they have named) “R&BAY” tracks entitled “Bip City” featuring a fellow Bay Area native and mogul @E40. Together, along with their group of close creatives they call “The Brodies”, have written, produced, and arranged over 100+ new records over the past 2 years that showcase this new sound effortlessly.

Melody-driven choruses work in tandem w/ expressive Bay lyricism & energetic production. Marcel provides an edginess just waiting to be unearthed by its purveyor. “R&Bay has arrived and it’s gone take the world by storm” @adrianmarcel

Vallejo’s own Papa Joe & The New Deal was born out of a small get-together of two seasoned musicians, Papa Joe Lucero (guitars and lead vocals) and Ed Rillera (keyboard and vocals), who in the past had promised each other that they would one day play together. Nine years later the band was created, featuring from six to nine pieces at any given time, and is continually in demand throughout Northern California.

With a consistent sound from a strong rhythm section featuring Elias Lucero on bass guitar and vocals, Dave McClure on drums and this dazzling vocal-driven band leads listeners musically through time with their selections of popular tunes from the past 50 years. Led by their talented female lead vocalists, Lani Parker, Janice Dispo, Selia Lucero and new comer Abby Rico, Papa Joe & The New Deal will take you on a musical journey from James Brown to Bruno Mars and all things in between, but always with their own twist of funk and soul.

There are decades of musical experience in this group and yet they possess a youthful spirit by engaging and embracing younger musicians to round out their signature sound. Without a doubt you will enjoy Papa Joe & The New Deal as they strive to make you part of the show. Do yourself a favor and catch them wherever you can and don’t forget your dancing shoes! @pjnd_band

Say Hello Hello and Yo Yo Yo to Bong Robbie, a.k.a. Dennis Barcelon, from Vallejo, California, a comedy personality on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. After years of performing on stage behind the mic as a rapper in the group, xL(xperiencing Life), Dennis began performing on the tiny screen, by posting funny videos on Instagram as Bong Robbie during the Quarantine Lockdown of 2020. In character as either James “Bong” Jovi or Robbie Joves from Hercules, with his videos, Bong Robbie discovered an audience of “Pandemic Quarantiners” desperate to laugh and be entertained. Creating content influenced from his upbringing as a Filipino American growing up in the Bay Area, Dennis realized over time, his jokes and sometimes inappropriate humor, was relatable and resonated with many Fil-Ams on social media, eventually garnering him a following of over 20k people. Bong Robbie plans to continue to ride these waves of laughter he has created onto stages for future stand up performances and hopefully, someday, performances on the big screen.
